Atami Geigi Kenban Atami Geigi Kenban

Atami Geigi Kenban is Atami's Geisha Exchange Theatre. Yumemachi-odori Hananomai (flower dance) is a brilliant dance performance by local geisha held at the Atami Geigi Kenban every Saturday and Sunday. It is a rare chance to see a professional dance by geisha.

MOA Museum of Art

Among the museum's 3,500 exhibits are three national treasures and numerous important cultural properties, including paintings, works of calligraphy, sculptures and other crafts. Expect to spend at least 2 hours just browsing round this extensive museum.
Don't miss Claude Monet's “Water Lilies”and Hideyoshi's “Golden Tea Room”.

Atami Castle

Atami Castle stands on the peak of Nishikigaura.
The observation deck offers superb panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and ocean. There is a museum inside depicting an old samurai homestead.Popular in spring for cherry blossom viewing, and in summer for fireworks.
The Atami Doll Museum next door contains valuable antique dolls and dolls' houses.

Kinomiya Shrine

People come to Kinomiya Shrine to pray for happiness as well as to buy charms for good health, safe driving, business success and protection against bad luck. In the grounds stands a large, 2,000-year-old camphor tree to which people offer prayers for long life and good health.
It is said that if you walk round the tree and make a wish, your wish will be granted. The tree is also known as “the tree of marriage&rdquo.

Kiunkaku

One of Atami's three great villas, this historical and cultural property was once popular with Japanese literary figures such as Yuzo Yamamoto and Osamu Dazai. With its blend of Japanese, Chinese and Western decor, it has an air of elegance.
